THE PETRIFIED TREE YELLOWSTONE. :Petrified wood is literally where the wood has been replaced by minerals. Sometimes it has a vague sort of woody texture, it looks a bit fibrous or it’s got a ring structure. The best examples will have whole cell structures preserved, the cell walls and the cell interior’s filled with mineral. (NOW YOU KNOW)

This only petrified tree in the area is placed behind a fence to protect it from collecters & vandals . There used to be two others here but were removed one piece at a time by mindless past park visitors who thoughtlessly took the pieces  home as souvenirs.
